Once upon time Mountainair was a ranching and farming town. But when the drought came, things changed. One of those things was that artists started to move here and now you can see evidence of their contributions on many of the buildings in our tiny town!
You'll mostly need to look up! The outside art is mainly murals though there are some very cool and unique metal sculptures too!

We have a few artists who like to work outside and there are also galleries along our main street. A quick peek in the windows will let you know who is sharing their work and if they are open! I will also let you know some of our artists are more private and while their windows reflect their talent, who they are will remain a mystery!
August is host to our annual Sunflower Festival which features local artists and those who are close by. It is a great start to your holiday shopping - is it ever too early to begin looking for a perfect gift?
